General Questions

1) What is the Process for adding additional domain names for the Virtual Server.

Use the add domain name order form in our reseller section. Once you submit the domain to us, we configure the nameservers and submit a new domain request to InterNIC.

2) What is the additional cost of adding domains to existing virtual servers?

For additional domains on NT® based virtual servers, the costs are different than for domains on Unix based virtual servers. All prices listed in the following table are in addition to normal virtual server costs.

Type of Additional Domain Desired Unix NT®
Additional CName FOR Virtual Hosting $15 Setup + $0/month $15 Setup + $5/month
Additional Domain Name FOR Virtual Hosting $35 Setup + $0/month $35 Setup + $5/month

3) Do your servers support International Domain Names?

Yes, it is possible to register international domain names and use them with our servers. You can check the availability of most standard international NIC domains, but you will have to register them directly. We will send you the appropriate nameserver information after receiving and adding the domain to our nameservers.

4) Should I use an NT® Virtual Server or a Unix Virtual Server if I intend to do alot of virtual hosting?

The NT® and Unix virtual servers both support Virtual Hosting. However, hosting multiple domains on a Unix Virtual Server is significantly less expensive than on a NT® virtual server. There is a $5 monthly fee for each domain that you plan to virtually host on your NT® Virtual Server. Additionally, Virtual Hosting on a NT® Virtual Server is not as easy or productive as Virtual Hosting on the Unix Virtual Servers. Unlike on the Unix virtual servers, we will have to set-up and configure each virtual directory that you desire on a NT® virtual server for each virtual host. Additionally, a private username/password is not assigned for NT® hosts so you will have to perform the ftp uploads for your clients.

5) Do the NT® Virtual Servers support Active Server Pages (ASP)?

Yes, all of the NT® Virtual Servers support Microsoft® Active Server Page Technology.

6) Do the NT® Virtual Servers support queries to Microsoft® Access Databases?

Yes, the Deluxe NT® and Royal Deluxe NT® Virtual Servers support ODBC access to local databases. Additionally, the Royal Deluxe NT® Virtual Server also supports ODBC connections to MS SQL Server.

7) Do the NT® Virtual Servers support ActiveX DLL registration?

No, at this time we do not support ActiveX DLL registration. However, we may support this feature in the future.

8) Can I move my existing Unix Virtual Server accounts to the new NT® Virtual Servers?

Yes, you can shift over to a NT® based virtual server, but we will not be able to migrate your data and files. Remember that NT® is an entirely different operating system. Because of this the selected files from the Unix Backup Tapes can not be easily ported to the NT® virtual servers. When ordering a new NT® Virtual Server, a one-time setup fee of USD$35.00 will apply.

Order your virtual server or virtual host.
