Using iManager: Current Working Directory: CM

CM is an abbreviation for "Change Mode of Entry". By selecting the [CM] link next to an entry in the Current Working Directory, you will be able to change the mode of the selected directory or file. You will be asked by the CM wizard (shown below) to specify the new mode.

If you are unsure about what mode to assign a specific file or directory, use these suggestions as a guide:

  • directory entries- 775 or "rwxrwxr-x". Select the "r", "w", and "x" toggles in the User and Group sections. Select the "r" and "x" toggles in the Other section. Unselect all other toggles.

cgi-bin scripts- 775 or "rwxrwxr-x". Select the "r", "w", and "x" toggles in the User and Group sections. Select the "r" and "x" toggles in the Other section. Unselect all other toggles.

html files and gif or jpeg images- 664 or "rw-rw-r--". Select the "r" and "w" toggles in the User and Group sections. Select the "r" toggle in the Other section. Unselect all other toggles.
