The Solaris Virtual Server combines Sun's Solaris operating system with powerful SPARC hardware and Virtual Server Technology to provide maximum performance, reliability, and scalability. Additionally, key Business applications like ColdFusion® and Chili!Soft® ASPs are also available. The Sun Solaris Operating System allows you to select and install many off the shelf applications that exist for this operating platform.

Things you should know before choosing the Solaris Virtual Server?

1. Reseller Discounts apply to the Solaris Virtual Server. The standard reseller discounts apply to both the Solaris Virtual Servers.

2. You can upgrade from a FreeBSD or BSD/OS Virtual Server to a Solaris Virtual Serverbut the process is not automatic. In order to upgrade, you will have to order a Solaris Virtual Server, transfer your content, files, configurations, etc., move your domain name, and then terminate your existing Virtual Server.

3. The Solaris Virtual Servers are housed in the same data centers as the FreeBSD Virtual Servers in either San Jose, California or Dulles, Virginia.

5. The Solaris Virtual Servers support the same number of Virtual Hosts (Subhosts) as the FreeBSD Virtual Servers:

   Deluxe Solaris Virtual Server: 25 subhosts*
   Royal Deluxe Solaris Virtual Server: 60 subhosts*
   

   * Recommendations ONLY - limit can be exceeded at risk of slowing down response time depending on server load. Of course the same guidelines and limitations of subhosting also apply to the Solaris Virtual Servers. The Server Administrator is responsible for managing the load created by multiple subhosts.

   NOTE: Although the Solaris Virtual Server will support subhosts, the intended purpose of this product is to support a single user with more complex web site requirements.

6. The following system resources are allocated to each Solaris Virtual Server:
   

   Deluxe Solaris Virtual Server
   Disk Space: 700 MB
   Processes: 64 processes (25 httpd processes)
   

   Royal Deluxe Solaris Virtual Server
   Disk Space: 1400 MB
   Processes: 96 processes (40 httpd processes)
   

7. There is currently NOT an internal E-Commerce shopping cart available for the Solaris Virtual Servers.
   You can, however, purchase a variety of shopping carts that run on the Solaris operating system. We are planning to add Mercantec's SoftCart in Spring 2001.

8. The Solaris Virtual Servers do NOT currently support Java Servlets and Java Server Pages (JSP).
   We anticipate making servlets and JSPs available via Apache's Jakarta-Tomcat project. These add-ons are scheduled to be available in Spring 2001.

9. Allaire ColdFusion will be available soon.
   Allaire Cold Fusion Enterprise v4.5 is now available on the Solaris Virtual Servers at the additional cost of USD$20.00/month. You can order ColdFusion on the Virtual Server Order Form.

10. Chili!Soft ASPs will be available soon.
    Chili!Soft ASPs availableon the Solaris Virtual Servers. A monthly recurring fee of $20.
